Why Statera Therapy?
Most people put off therapy because they’re not sure it’ll actually work for them. Here’s what makes this different.
You get a plan built around your life
Not a generic framework. Your therapist builds around your goals, your schedule, and where you actually are right now.
You never have to repeat yourself
Our therapists coordinate with each other. If more than one person is involved in your care, they talk. You stay focused on progress.
We're straight with you about what to expect
We don't overpromise. We tell you what real progress looks like, how long it usually takes, and what it needs from you.
You can actually be yourself here
No performance. No rushing. No judgment. Just a room where you can say the real thing.
- No pressure. Just a conversation.
Does any of this sound familiar?
These are the things that bring most people to therapy. If you recognize yourself here, you are in the right place.
Racing thoughts, anxiety, or panic
Your mind won’t slow down. You feel it in your chest, your sleep, your ability to just get through the day.
Low mood, dark thoughts, or loss of joy
Things that used to feel good don’t anymore. You’re not sure when that changed, but it did.
Anger or emotional outbursts
Small things set you off. You can see it affecting the people around you and you don’t want it to be this way.
Trauma that keeps showing up
You thought you were past it. But it keeps surfacing in ways you didn’t expect.
Relationship struggles or disconnect
The same fights. The same distance. You want things to be different but nothing seems to shift.
ADHD challenges like focus or motivation
Staying on top of things feels harder than it should. You’re not lazy. Your brain just works differently.
If any of this sounds familiar, you’re not alone. Most people who reach out aren’t sure if therapy is right for them yet.
- Just a conversation. No commitment required.
From first call to real progress
Here is exactly what happens when you reach out.
1
You book a free consultation
15 minutes. No commitment. You share what is going on and we figure out if we are the right fit.
2
We match you with the right therapist
Not everyone is right for every therapist. We match you based on your situation and what you need.
3
You build a real plan together
Your first session is about understanding your story. From there, your therapist builds a plan around your goals.
4
You show up, we handle the rest
Your therapist runs the session. You just have to show up and be honest. That’s enough.
- Ask questions. See if it feels like a good fit.

Have a conversation
You share what's happening, and we get a sense of your situation.

You decide
No obligation. If it feels like a good fit, we book your first session.
Many people find this conversation alone is helpful. It gives clarity about whether therapy is right for you.
- Talk through what’s going on. No pressure to commit.
Frequently asked questions
Find answers to common questions about our therapy services and process.
How does psychotherapy work?
Psychotherapy is a collaborative process between you and your therapist.
You work through what is going on in your life, explore patterns in your thoughts, emotions, and behaviour, and build practical skills for handling what comes next. It is not just venting.
Over time, therapy helps you understand yourself better and build practical skills for handling what life throws at you.
Do you offer sliding scale or lower-cost therapy?
Yes, we offer a limited number of sliding scale and lower-cost spots based on availability. If cost is a concern, reach out and we can talk through your options.
Is everything I share confidential?
Yes. Everything you share stays between you and your therapist.
There are a small number of legal exceptions, such as if there is a risk of serious harm to yourself or someone else, or if a court orders disclosure. Your therapist will explain these limits at the start of your first session.
In couples or family therapy, topics discussed in individual sessions may be shared when all members resume joint sessions in order to maintain therapeutic transparency. Your therapist will discuss this with you so you know what to expect before it happens.
What should I expect in my first session?
Your first session is mostly about your therapist getting to know you.
They will ask about what brought you in, your background, and what you are hoping to get from therapy.
You do not need to have everything figured out before you come. Just show up and be honest about where you are.
Do you offer virtual sessions?
Yes. We offer virtual sessions to anyone in Ontario.
Work with our therapists from home or wherever feels most comfortable.
What if I feel like therapy isn't working?
Bring it up with your therapist. A good therapist wants to know if something is not landing and will adjust the approach.
If the fit is not right, we can help match you with someone else on our team.
Progress is not always linear but you should feel like the work is meaningful.
Can I book a therapist directly, or do I need to start with the free consultation?
You can book directly if you already know who you want to work with.
If you are not sure, the free 15-minute consultation is the best starting point. We will help match you with the right therapist based on your situation and what you are looking for.
You can book directly with one of our therapists by clicking here.
Is this covered by insurance?
Many extended health benefit plans in Ontario cover psychotherapy and social work services.
Coverage varies by provider and plan, and our services are not covered by OHIP.
Check with your insurer to confirm what’s included, and feel free to ask us during your free call. We provide receipts for any claims you want to submit.
What if I need to cancel or reschedule?
We ask that you give at least 48 hours notice if you need to cancel or reschedule. This allows us to offer the time to someone else who needs it. Late cancellations or no-shows may be subject to a fee.
The hardest part is reaching out. The call is free.
Most people who book aren’t sure they’re ready. That’s okay. Fill in your details and we’ll get you scheduled.
